Be that One Out of Ten
“Hi! Congrats! Your bone marrow is clear!”
– Dr. Lopez
These words seem unreal when I first heard them. I was stunned. I couldn’t believe it. My bone marrow is clear, and I can have my bone marrow transplant soon! Before I could say anything, I found myself holding back tears, looking at my mama, smiling, and even laughing. Wow! All my heart could say was, “Praise the Lord. Thank You God!”
This is a miracle for me! I prayed for a miracle but was only expecting my leukemia/blast cells to decrease, and not totally cleared. I am reminded of how I sometimes felt indifferent when I read of Jesus’ healing miracles in the Gospels. How I sometimes felt that I couldn’t relate to these stories. And here I am in a season of experiencing step-by-step healing and countless miracles day by day. All because of Jesus’ hand in my life and my doctors!
One of the many healing stories I’ve reflected on was in Luke 17:11-19,
“On the way to Jerusalem he was passing along between Samaria and Galilee. And as he entered a village, he was met by ten lepers, who stood at a distance and lifted up their voices, saying, “Jesus, Master, have mercy on us.” When he saw them he said to them, “Go and show yourselves to the priests.” And as they went they were cleansed. Then one of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned back, praising God with a loud voice; and he fell on his face at Jesus’ feet, giving him thanks. Now he was a Samaritan. Then Jesus answered, “Were not ten cleansed? Where are the nine? Was no one found to return and give praise to God except this foreigner?” And he said to him, “Rise and go your way; your faith has made you well.””
God heals and performs miracles day by day. Not just to me, but to you as well. But the problem is sometimes we don’t take a closer look and we take these blessings for granted.
Just like the nine lepers that were healed in this story. Today, I am reminded to be that one leper who returned to Jesus, praised God with a loud voice, and fell on his face at Jesus’ feet and gave Him thanks! Today, I will share this miracle to everyone and point us to the God who heals — Jesus Christ! Praise Him loudly! Give thanks to Him heartily! Soli deo gloria!
Please continue to pray with our family. I am still on high doses of chemotherapy as our medical team prepare me for my bone marrow transplant. Please pray that one of my two sisters will be a matched donor for me, since we just found out that my brother is not a match. Please also pray for provision for our family’s every need in this journey. The transplant itself will cost an estimate of 2 million pesos on top of over the 1.5M and ongoing medical bills. We continue to trust that God is in control of everything and He will not disappoint. And that one day I will also hear what Jesus told that one leper, “Rise and go your way; your faith has made you well.”
Thank you dear prayer warriors! Your prayers have kept me encouraged and strong in my faith through this season of my life!
Praise God from whom all blessings flow!
