It’s a happy 40th anniversary to my beloved alma mater — the International Graduate School of Leadership. Last May 2021, just three months before I was diagnosed with leukemia, I graduated from IGSL with a Master of Divinity major in Leadership Studies with an Educational Ministry emphasis. IGSL is very close to my heart. This institution equipped and prepared me to be a servant-steward leader of the Lord in whatever organization or ministry God would bring me to. But most of all, I am grateful to God for the community of believers in IGSL that I can call my Kuya and Ate in life! Their unceasing prayers and support have strengthened me in this dark time of my sickness.

And so to be able to write and contribute a piece of God’s story in my life for the 40th anniversary devotional booklet entitled “The God of Strength” is such an honor. This project came at a time when I needed to be reminded again of God’s strength and the many miracles He has done in my life. Despite the leukemia relapse happening just before the launch and it didn’t allow me to be present at the anniversary celebration. I believe that God has His very precise purpose for this to happen. And so I will choose to be content and even happier that I am able to record a reading of my devotional entry and share it with you here.

THROUGH THIS PROCESS, I HAVE FOUND YET AGAIN NEW STRENGTH IN HIM, FOR I KNOW THAT THE GOD OF STRENGTH WHO WAS WITH ME THE PAST SIX MONTHS IS STILL WITH ME TO THIS DAY.

This devotional is a glimpse into the greater story of God’s faithfulness and strength given to the International Graduate School of Leadership (IGSL) throughout its 40-year history. It is our prayer that as you read these real-life experiences from 32 writers of our IGSL family: students, alumni, staff, and faculty, you will see the glorious STRENGTH of God. His great strength arises, fortifies, and shines beautifully in times of our weakness, fear, and hopelessness, even doubt.

My sincerest gratitude and appreciation to the IGSL 40th Devo Team, especially to Ate Gerri Miller for encouraging me to write and share God’s amazing story of strength and to Ate Vivian Tica for being the wonderful editor of my devotional entry. May this devotional book bring only glory and honor to the God of Strength!
